Staying connected and safe while traveling or getting from one place to another has never been so easy. There are a few options. The one mentioned on page 37 is the companion app. This is available currently for iOS. The companion app allows a user to select their companions to from their contacts and start a trip. The companions can follow along (even without installing the app) on a map, chat with you along the way, and get live updates. If something happens the app helps the user contact their companions or the authorities right away.
Another option is in the Google Maps app. In the Menu options down the left hand side is the Location Sharing option. Select it and maps will open up with the option to select how long to share our location, and how (via contacts, iMessage on iOS/Text on Android). The people who share with can share back or not, but they can follow where you are on Google Maps. It is possible to cancel the sharing before the selected amount of time is up.
